Woolloomooloo

Woolloomooloo is a low-lying docklands suburb between the heights of central Sydney, Australia to the west and Potts Point to the east and has historically been a poor, working-class district of Sydney. This has changed only recently with gentrification creeping up from Darlinghurst to the south, and the redevelopment of the waterfront, particularly the construction of the housing development on Finger Wharf , which boasts Russell Crowe as a resident. Areas of housing commission housing do still exist in the suburb, however.

Woolloomooloo's commerce has historically been dominated by shipping at the Finger Wharf, and by the regular influx of sailors from the Garden Island base of the Royal Australian Navy. The popular night-spot and tourist destination of Kings Cross lies to the southeast in Potts Point.

The area was ahead of Indooroopilly in the 2001 Australian census as the suburb with the highest density of O's.
