The Women's Senior Golf Tour is a professional golf tour for women aged 45 and upwards. It is based in the United States, and it an offshoot of the main U.S. based women's tour, the LPGA Tour. The tour was founded in 2001, and is intended to allow women to prolong their competitive golf careers on the model of the successful Champions Tour for men. The age limit is however five years lower than on the Champions Tour.
The tour is still embryonic. There were only ten events in total in the first four seasons, but in 2005, the schedule has been expanded to four events for the first time, with combined prize money of $1.425 million. According to its website, the tour has over a hundred members, who have won over six hundred LPGA Tour events between them.
