William Hutt (born May 2, 1920) is a Canadian actor best known for his work on the stage.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, he served five years as a medic during World War II, receiving the Military Medal for “bravery in the field”. After the war, he received his B.A. in 1948 from Trinity College of the University of Toronto. He joined the Stratford Festival of Canada in its first season in 1953.
He played the character, Le Moyne, in the 2003 film The Statement.
In 1969 he was made a Companion of the Order of Canada. In 1992 he was awarded the Order of Ontario. In 2000 he was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame. He was the first recipient of the Governor General's Lifetime Achievement Award, English Stage
