The West Midlands county
The West Midlands Police is the police force covering the West Midlands county in England.
Established in 1974, the force is the second largest in the United Kingdom after the London Metropolitan Police, and covers an area with nearly 2.6 million inhabitants, which includes the cities of Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton and also the Black Country.
The force is made up of 8,057 police officers, supported by 3,882 support staff, 721 special constables and 95 Police Community Support Officers.
