Waterfall is a suburb of Sydney, Australia. It is adjacent to Engadine .
The Waterfall railway station is the terminus for CityRail's suburban Illawarra line, and has since become synonymous with the rail disaster on January 31, 2003 of an intercity train service which crashed just past Waterfall. The cause of the crash was determined to be a "heart attack" in the driver and a failure of the safety equipment and the guard to stop the train.
Waterfall is the last town before the commencement of the F3 freeway/Princes Highway to the city of Wollongong.
