Vila do Porto (Portuguese for village of the port) is the main village on the island of Santa Maria and is in the southwestern part, part of the archipelago of the Azores. It is the southernmost and the eastermost municipality in the Azores archipelago. The municipality is encircled with the Atlantic Ocean. The nearest island is São Miguel to the north with the nearest municipality being Povoação. It is located SE of São Miguel and SW of the Formigas Islets.
The island has several roads. There is one main road to the northern part and one to the northeastern part of the island.
The main source of industry are agriculture and fishing while a small number of businesses are in the downtown area.
