Turkish Embassy in Washington

The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Washington is the Turkish embassy in Washington D.C. The chancery is located on embassy row at 2525 Massachusetts Ave. NW on embassy row. The building is new, having being inaugurated by Turkish President Süleyman Demirel on April 23, 1999.

Previously the embassy had been housed in a mansion further north of embassy row. This building today serves as the ambassadorial structure. The building was originally built for Edward Hamlin Everett a bottling millionaire in 1915. It was designed by George Oakley Totten, Jr. who had spent a brief period in Turkey as the official architect for Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid. The Turkish government leased the building in 1932 and purchased it four years later.
