Toyonaka, Osaka

Toyonaka (豊中市; -shi) is a city located in Osaka, Japan.

As of 2004, the city has an estimated population of 388,372 and the density of 10,675.43 persons per km². The total area is 36.38 km².

From ancient times until today Toyonaka had a fair-sized population. The events inciting the Shokyu War were related to a matter in Toyonaka. A case on a matter between a favorite lady of the retired emperor Go-toba and a local Jitou was wrongly resolved, and then the former had the Emperor redecide the case in her favor.

The city was founded on October 15, 1936. Osaka University and Osaka Music College locate their campuses in Toyonaka.

Osaka International Airport is partially located in Toyonaka including its terminal, although it is more commonly associated with the city of Itami.
