Tolna is the name of:

Tolna county

Tolna county lies in central Hungary. It lies on the west bank of the river Danube. It shares borders with the Hungarian counties Somogy, Fejér, Bács-Kiskun, and Baranya. The capital of Tolna county is Szekszárd. Its area is 3703 km².

Tolna (former county)

Tolna (in Latin: comitatus Tolnensis) is also the name of a historic administrative county (comitatus) of the Kingdom of Hungary. Its territory, which was about the same as that of present Tolna county, is presently in central Hungary. The capital of the county was Szekszárd.

Geography

Tolna county shared borders with the Hungarian counties Somogy, Veszprém, Fejér, Pest-Pilis-Solt-Kiskun and Baranya. The river Danube formed most of its eastern border. Its area was 3537 km² around 1910.

History

Tolna county arose as one of the first comitatus of the Kingdom of Hungary, in the 11th century.

Tolna (town)

Tolna is also a small town in Tolna county, Hungary. It lies about 10 km north of Szekszárd and 135 km south of Budapest.
