Theakston (officially T&R Theakston Ltd.) are brewers of beer in Masham, North Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. The company is family-owned and has a history tracing back 170 years. In 1984 the company was purchased by Matthew Brown who 3 years later were themselves purchased by Scottish & Newcastle. In 2004 the business returned to family ownership.
Their range of beers include Best Bitter, Old Peculier, XB, Mild and Black Bull. Their beers are often difficult to get hold of in pubs outside of Yorkshire, but it is possible to find them in other areas of the UK (especially in supermarkets) and around the world.
