It was filmed in Sydney, Australia and also featured Lou Gossett Jr, Jeroen Krabbé, Kim Miyori , Nancy Everhard and Barry Otto .

Plot summary

Five years after his family was murdered in a mob hit, the thought-dead police officer Frank Castle (Dolph Lundgren) has become a vigilante known as "The Punisher." Living in the sewers and waging a one-man war against organized crime, his only friend is an old alcoholic named Shakes (Barry Otto). Meanwhile, the Mafia, headed by Franco (Jeroen Krabbé), begins a violent turf war with the Yakuza, led by Lady Tanaka (Kim Miyori). The Punisher is called into duty to stop the war and save a group of innocent children kidnapped by the Yakuza, while Castle's former partner Jake Berkowitz (Lou Gossett Jr.) and his new partner (Nancy Everhard) seek out the mysterious Punisher to ask him why he would punish the guilty.

Another movie based on the Marvel Comics character was released in April 2004, starring John Travolta as the villain, with Thomas Jane as the Punisher.
