The Manual

The Manual is a 1989 book released under the name of The Timelords, also known as The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu furthermore known as The KLF. Subtitled How to Have a Number One the Easy Way, it is a tongue-in-cheek guide to scamming the music industry written by former music industry manager Bill Drummond. The book is written a step by step guide to achieving a No.1 single with no money, it is also a case study of the duo's 1988 UK novelty pop No. 1 Doctorin' the Tardis, a mix of Gary Glitter, The Sweet and the Doctor Who theme.

The Manual was re-released with a new foreword by Drummond in 2002.

The Austrian Eurotrash band Edelweiss, who read the book, stole Abba's "S.O.S.," and sold five million copies worldwide with "Bring Me Edelweiss". Bill Drummond also mentions that in the epilogue of the German release of "The Manual".
