The Adventures of Tintin (TV series)

The Adventures of Tintin is an animated television series based on the Tintin comic books by Hergé. It débuted in 1990, and 39 half-hour episodes were produced.

The series was directed by Stéphane Bernasconi , and produced by Ellipse (France), and Nelvana (Canada), on behalf of La Foundation Hergé. The episodes were based on the original stories, though some were significantly altered for broadcast. For example, "The Red Sea Sharks" originally dealt with modern slavery, whereas the TV show dealt with illegal immigration.

In North America, the series aired on HBO. A complete collection of 7 three-in-one volumes of videos, with 5 or 6 half-hour episodes each (roughtly 125 or 150 minutes), are scheduled for release on VHS and DVD in mid-2005 by Universal Studios Home Video.
