Terra Branford

Terra Branford is a fictional main character of the SquareSoft game Final Fantasy VI. The daughter of the Esper Maduin and a human mother, Madonna, Terra was raised by the Empire as a soldier after the Empire, including Emperor Gestahl himself, attacked the Espers' home and captured several, including Maduin. As a half-Esper, Terra has the gift of magic and once destroyed fifty Magitek -equipped Imperial soldiers in an exercise. When the game begins, Terra is wearing a Slave Crown, suppressing her free will and giving the Empire complete control over her. After encountering the frozen Esper in the mines of Narshe, Terra is freed of the Slave Crown, and she makes her way to join the Returners, an underground resistance movement.

After a plot event, Terra can assume her half-Esper form using the Morph command, turning into a pink figure with wild hair. Her morphed form is very powerful. When in this form, her physical power, magical power and magical defense all double. However, she can only keep the form for a short amount of time.

Terra likes animals, and dislikes crowded places.

Music

In "Final Fantasy VI: Original Sound Version," Terra's theme is called "Tina" ("Terra" in the U.S.) -- disc 2, track 1. (It is also considered by many to be the main theme of Final Fantasy VI, as it is the overworld music in the World of Balance.) Her leitmotif is also found in the tracks:

  • Opening Theme [Snow Walk] -- 1, 1
  • Awakening -- 1, 3
  • Save Them! -- 1, 23
  • Metamorphosis -- 1, 25
  • Ending Theme [Character Medley] -- 3, 15
  • Ending Theme [Post-Character Medley) -- 3, 15
