Terje Haakonsen, born in Norway on October 11 1974, is a legend in snowboarding and often considered once of the biggest influences on the sport. He has won European (5 times) and World (3 times) halfpipe championships, the U.S. Open (3 times), and the Legendary Mt. Baker Banked Slalom (4 times). His latest venture, The Arctic Challenge , is an invitational event held on the remote Lofoten islands of Norway run and judged by snowboarders. Terje and his partners have created an event for the riders by the riders without the aid of major commercial backing. Terje's style influences snowboarding on all levels.
