Tereré is a drink made of specially prepared maté. It is slightly toasted and rests for 8 months before it is ready to drink.
Unlike chimarrão, it is drunk with cold water and some citrus fruits. In Argentina, they use lemon and orange. In Paraguay, they use lemon. In Brazil, they use lemon and a specially prepared pineapple tea.
It is usually drunk in an aluminium cup, or in a horn, called Guampa.
