Southland Tales is a 2005 film by Richard Kelly currently in pre-production. The film is described as a blending a musical comedy with a drama and a thriller and is set in a three-day heat wave in Los Angeles. It is scheduled to start filming in March/April of 2005.
The film has become highly anticipated in many circles, particularly due to the cult success of Kelly's last (2001) release Donnie Darko. Kevin Smith and long-time collaborator Jason Lee, both also having a cult following, are due to star in the film alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar and Seann William Scott.
Music for the film is rumoured to include involvement by Gary Jules, who previously worked on Donnie Darko, Moby and Trent Reznor.

In a similar style to Donnie Darko, the official web site is an interactive Macromedia Flash animation, blending eerie sounds and visuals with puzzles. The tagline for the film is "Warning: you are entering a domain of chaos".
