Son of Vulcan is a fictional character created by Charlton Comics in 1965/66. He is one of the characters that DC Comics would later purchase.

Son of Vulcan first appeared in Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds #46, soon retitled Son of Vulcan with issue #49. Title was cancelled with #50 and the numbering contining as Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt.
Son of Vulcan was really Johnny Mann, who was granted super powers by the Roman god Vulcan to stop the god of War, Mars.
His last published apparence was the first professional work by comic author Roy Thomas.
DC Comics
DC has made very little use of Son of Vulcan. He appeared briefly (and apparently died) in the War of the Gods mini-series that came after Crisis on Infinite Earths.
DC is about to publish a new "Son of Vulcan" title, but this new series has nothing to do with the original.
