Rudraige

Rudraige (Rudhraighe, Ruadhraighe,) is a name borne by a number of figures from Irish history and mythology.

1. Rudraige, son of Partholón was one of the first settlers of Ireland after the Flood. Loch Rudraige, modern Dundrum, County Down Bay, erupted when his grave was dug and was named after him.

2. Rudraige, son of Dela, was the second Fir Bolg High King of Ireland in the 16th or 20th century BC, succeeding his brother Sláinge (2). He ruled two years, and died at the Brú na Bóinne (Newgrange). He was considered the ancestor of the Fir Domnann.

3. Rudraige son of Sithrige was a legendary High King of Ireland of the 2nd or 3rd century BC. The dynasty of the Ulaid traced their descent from him.
