Ruaidhri O Flaithbheartaigh, 1629-1716/1718.
Lord of the eastern Clann O Flaithbheartigh of Iar Connacht, lost the greater part of his ancestral estates to Cromwellian confiscations in the 1650's. The remainer was stolen though deception, by his son's father-in-law, Richard Nimble Dick Martin of Ross. Died in poverty at Park, near Bearna .
Uniquely among the O Flaithbheartigh family up to that time, Ruaidhri became a highly reguarded historian and collector of Irish manuscripts. His freinds and associates included Daibhidh O Duibhghennain, Dubhaltach MacFhirbhisigh, Dr. John Lynch, Edward Llyud and Samuel Moleneaux. His published works included Ogyia, Ogyia Vindicated, and Iar Connacht.
