Roswell K. Colcord

Roswell Keyes Colcord (April 25, 1839October 30, 1939) served as Governor of the U.S. state of Nevada from 1891 to 1895. Born in Searsport, Maine, Colcord immigrated to Nevada in the 1870s and became a successful mining engineer. He also set up a law practice and became one of the top attorneys in the state.

Elected as Governor in 1891, Colcord (a Republican) strengthened the state's economy and also signed the state's first admissions day bill.

After his term as Governor, Colcord was named Superintendent of the United States Mint, a position he held from 1898 to 1911. He was in relatively good health at the time of his death at age 100 in 1939.
