Binomial name
Capreolus capreolus
(Linnaeus, 1758)

The Roe Deer (Capreolus capreolus) is a European and Asiatic deer. It has rather short, erect antlers forked at the tips, and a reddish body with a grey face. It is very quick and graceful, and lives on high ground or mountains. In the Welsh myth Cad Goddeu, a rare white roebuck is stolen from Arawn of Annwn, symbolic of the soul's journey into death.

Bambi, A Life in the Woods is a book about a Roe Deer.
