Renault Torino

The Renault Torino is a mid-sized automobile made by Renault of Argentina, and began life as the Argentinian version of the Rambler American. It was built from 1966 to 1980 in both two-door coupé and four-door sedan variants.

It was originally equipped with 3·0 L and 3·8 L engines from Rambler, with triple-Weber carburettor models at the top of the range. The badging was based on the city of Turin's coat of arms.

Renault initially made much of the Torino's touring car successes in its home market.

From 1977, the top model became the Torino Grand Routier, a touring sedan. The entire range received some sheetmetal changes in 1978, though major panels such as the doors were carried over. The newer models were longer and the later sedans can be recognized by their full C-pillar. Previously the rear window wrapped into the sides more.

In its final year, the Torino was only available in two models (Grand Routier GR sedan and ZX Coupé)—in its heyday there were over 20.
