A Redcap is a type of malevolent murderous Goblin, Elf or Fairy found in English folklore. They live in ruins found at the border between England and Scotland, and are said to murder travelers who stay in their homes, staining their hats with their victim's blood, giving them the name "Red Caps". Redcaps are very fast, even with their iron boots, so outrunning one is quite impossible. The only way to escape is to quote a passage from the Bible.
Redcap is also a British Army nickname for a military policeman.
