Old fashioned radio receiver or wireless, Truetone model

A receiver is a tuner combined with an amplifier and/or loudspeaker. It is commonly used in home theater settings, although it is believed that standalone tuners have superior audio quality. These devices feature multiple inputs, allowing connections from record players, CD players, tape decks, and video devices such as VCRs, DVD players, and televisions. Digital audio S/P-DIF connections are also common today. Modern receivers can send audio out to six or more speakers, and often include connections for headphones.
