Ranch is the common name used to describe a brothel. The term dates back to the Texas Chicken Ranch, an old brothel that is no longer open.
The name came about from the early form of payment where chickens were used as the method of payment. Over time the place became overrun with chickens effectively becoming a ranch, in fact a chicken ranch.
