The Publican Party is a minor political party in the UK. The party was founded in March 2005 in Inverness by two publicans, Kit Fraser and Don Lawson.
It's main policy is opposing any smoking ban in pubs.
The Scottish Parliament has passed a bill which will ban smoking in all enclosed public places (including pubs), this is due to come into force in Spring 2006.
The Publican Party believe this will cause a drop in profits for their pubs, possibly leading to their closure.
The party are fielding one candidate in the 2005 general election, Don Lawson in the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey constituency.
