Pinnacle Edition is a video editing software package sold by Pinnacle Systems. The Pro version of the Pinnacle Edition software includes an ATI based AGP video card that doubles as a video editing card. TThe user navigates around Pinnacle Edition via so called intelligent menus that pop-up when right clicking in various parts of the open window. The other major difference with the Pinnacle cards is pre-emptive rendering, a feature that Pinnacle claims is exclusive to this product.
Unlike most other modern video cards the Pinnacle Pro card does not provide support for more than one monitor. The AGP card is based on a Radeon 8500 chipset which is fairly dated. The wider bandwidth of the AGP slot is often claimed to provide faster throughput for video data when compared to PCI slots. This advantage is likely to be lost with the increasing popularity of the PCI Express bus.
