Partidul Liber-Schimbist

Partidul Liber-Schimbist (PLS - the Free Change Party) was a satirical Romanian polical party founded in 1990 by Ştefan Cazimir .

The name "liber schimbist" is a double entendre used by Ion Luca Caragiale in his comedy O scrisoare pierdută. One of the key characters, Nae Caţavencu, declares himself a "liber-schimbist", which in literal translation means "an adept of free trade", but can be equally interpreted as "free changer", or rather "easy changer" - one who changes views or convictions easily, without scruples.

In the 1990 legislative election , PLS gained 46,247 votes, earning 0.33% of the popular votes and one seat in the Chamber of Deputies of Romania.

Although Cazimir left the party in 1992, it was only disbanded when the new rules of 1996 required that any party should have at least 10,000 members.
