Paradroid is the name of a classic Commodore 64 game made by Andrew Braybrook . The game was also released, as "Paradroid 90", for the Amiga and Atari ST home computers and as "Paradroid 2000" for the Acorn Archimedes. There exists several fan-made remakes for modern PCs.
In the game the player controls a little robot (Droid) and tries to gain control over a big spaceship full of hostile robots. The rooms of this ship are viewed top-down and the robots are drawn as circles with numbers in them. The game is completely in 2D.
At the beginning of the game the player's droid is just a tiny, unarmed "001" droid. While avoiding the laser beams of stronger droids, the player must make a contact (collision) with another droid. Now a mini-game for the control of the droids circuits is played. If successful, the player now can for a limited time use the other droid, including its weapons and armour. If unsuccessful, the player is again reduced to the "001" droid.
The spaceship has several decks, and each deck can have several rooms. Doors and elevators connect the rooms and the decks.
