New Canada Party

The New Canada Party was a short-lived Canadian political party that nominated one candidate, party founder and leader, Fred Reiner, in the 1968 election. Reiner ran in Toronto-Rosedale riding under the slogan, "Canada for Canadians", and received 148 votes, or 0.4% of the total.

Reiner, a construction superintendent born in Bavaria, Germany, claimed to have organized the party in 1963.

Note: The parliamentary website noted below incorrectly indicates that the New Canada Party nominated three candidates in the 1965 federal election. The Globe and Mail and Toronto Star newspapers of 1965 indicate that these candidates were, in fact, running for the New Capitalist Party, which appears to have had no connection with the New Canada Party.
