Nancy Garden (born May 15, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American author best known for Annie on My Mind, which was critically acclaimed but attracted controversy because of its homosexual characters. In 1993, it was banned by the Kansas City school system and burnt in demonstrations. It was returned to shelves only after a First Amendment lawsuit by students in 1995.
She has also written non-fiction, mystery and fantasy for children and young adults. In 2003, the American Library Association awarded her the Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in writing books for teens.
