The currency of Eritrea is the Nakfa, divided into 100 cents. The currency was introduced in 1997 to replace the Ethiopian Birr, and as an italian colony the Italian Lira was used.

Coinage is made entirely of stainless steel, each coin hase a different milled edge, instead of consistant milled for all denomination like Australian coins.
