The NYPD Transportation Bureau is one of the ten bureaus that comprise the New York City Police Department. It is currently headed by Transportation Chief Michael Scagnelli, and is headquartered in Brooklyn. The Transportation Bureau's responsibilities include many of the tasks assigned to the former New York City Transit Police, such as patrolling and persuing anti-vandalism efforts on each of New York's subway lines, in addition to parking enforcement, traffic management, and highway safety. Special units within the NYPD Transportation Bureau include the NYPD Mounted Unit and the NYPD Highway Patrol.
