Recurring characters of Futurama

(Redirected from Morbo)

Futurama's recurring characters:

  • Zapp Brannigan (Voiced by Billy West) - a pompous 25-star general known for his incompetence and numerous military victories over weak alien races, many of whom were pacifists or would gladly have surrendered had he not killed them. He had a one-night stand with Leela, which he reminds her of at every opportunity.
  • Kif Kroker (Maurice LaMarche) - Alien assistant to Captain Zapp Brannigan and first officer of the Democratic Order of Planets (DOOP) starship Nimbus. Constantly exasperated by Captain Brannigan's deflection of blame and obscene requests, he lacks the self-confidence to stand up for himself. Instead of a skeleton, he is supported by a system of fluid-filled bladders. He can stick to walls like a gecko, shed his skin like a snake and blend in with his surroundings like a chameleon. He began dating Amy Wong in season 3, and gave birth to their tadpoles (although the maternal DNA originally came from Leela) on his homeplanet Amphibios 9 in season 5.
  • Nibbler (Frank Welker) - a small, three-eyed, black-skinned alien found by Leela on the planet Vergon 6, and kept by her as a pet. He has a voracious appetite, and can instantly consume creatures much larger than himself. He produces dark matter droppings. It is eventually revealed that he is a Nibblonian operative, sent to Earth as part of a mission to stop an evil race of giant brains. "We live long and are celebrated poopers!"
  • Richard Nixon's head (Billy West) - after a millennium of being a disembodied head, Nixon has lost more than a few of his marbles. He was elected President of Earth in season 2 by a single vote. During the election campaign, he used Bender's body (which Bender had sold for money) and gained huge support from the robots. Incidentally, he returned Bender's body to Bender after the Planet Express crew taped his plans to "go into people's houses at night and wreck up the place" and to sell the bodies of babies as dog-food. The Planet Express crew made a deal that Nixon would get the tape in exchange for returning Bender's body. However, Nixon won the election by obtaining a giant robotic body. One vote could have cost Nixon's presidency if Leela (or anyone else, except for non-voting felon Bender) remembered to vote.
  • Mom (Tress MacNeille) - The bitter owner (or 99.7% majority shareholder) of Momcorp, one of the largest industrial conglomerates known to Man, with subsidiaries ranging from Mom's Friendly Robot Company to Mom's Old-Fashioned Video Surveillance Unit. One of the richest people on Earth. She maintains a public image of being a sweet, matronly figure through use of a fat-suit and talented acting, when in fact she is almost emaciated, crass, and malevolent. Her sons Walt, Larry, and Ignar assist her in her endeavors. She was once romantically involved with Professor Farnsworth over 70 years ago, but their breakup left her even more bitter.
  • Calculon (Maurice LaMarche) - Frequently occurring Shakespearean robot actor voiced by Maurice LaMarche of Pinky and the Brain fame. Calculon is the star of the long-running soap opera All My Circuits, tailor-made to his melodramatic acting skills. Calculon is only the latest of his identities, as at least some part of his brain has been operating for the past millennium. He started his existence as a pretty standard Industrial robot, but his AI was apparently used in some experimentation with acting robots. Since then he has changed his identity and upgraded his appearance every few decades to avoid suspicion and losing the crowd. Former incarnations include Acting Unit 0.8, Thespomat and David Duchovny
  • The Robot Devil (Dan Castellaneta) - the Robot Devil lives in Robot Hell, hidden beneath Reckless Ted's Funland in the Inferno ride. He appears in two episodes as a major character, "Hell is Other Robots" and "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings", as well as a brief cameo in "A Tale of Two Santas".
  • Robot Santa (John Goodman) (John DiMaggio) - A robot created by Mom's Friendly Robot Company to decide who's been naughty and who's been nice, distributing presents accordingly. Unfortunately his standards were set too high, and he consequently judges everyone to be naughty, leading him to go on rampages across Earth every Xmas. This rule does however have one known exception in the case of Dr. Zoidberg, who has been given a pogo stick as a gift. He resides in his fortress on Neptune and theoretically uses Neptunians as labor for toy (now weapons, crack coming soon) manufacture. He was voiced by John Goodman in his first appearance (Xmas Story), and John DiMaggio in his second (A Tale of Two Santas), as John Goodman was not available.
  • Lrrr (Maurice LaMarche) - ruler of the planet Omicron Persei VIII, located 1,000 light years from Earth. On numerous occasions Lrrr has threatened to destroy the Earth as a whole, as well as members of the Planet Express crew personally. Lrrr is something of a parody of all cliched "green-skinned space invaders." His wife is named Ndnd. Appeared in the "What If" episode as the ruler of planet Nintendu 64. He purchased Fry's nose on the black market as an aphrodisiac named "Human Horn" in the episode "Spanish Fry".
  • Al Gore (Himself) - Emperor of the Moon in the 31st Century, but also appears when Fry returns to the year 2000 as Vice President of the United States and head of the Vice Presidential Action Rangers, tasked (by the constitution) to preserve the space-time continuum. He also appears on the five-hundred dollar bill. By the year 3000, he also claims to be inventor of the environment and is the author of "Earth in the Balance" and the much more popular "Harry Potter and the Balance of Earth".
  • Cubert Farnsworth (Kath Soucie)- Professor Hubert Farnsworth's son, a clone of the Professor. Pompous, arrogant, and critical of the lower-I.Q. members of Planet Express. Differs from the Professor in appearance due to his nose being squashed up against the wall of his cloning tube.
  • Professor Ogden Wernstrom (David Herman) - Rival of Professor Farnsworth who resents the "A-" grade Farnsworth gave him for sloppyness when Wernstrom was completing his senior year. In 3000, Wernstrom fulfilled his feud with Farnsworth when Wernstrom beat Farnsworth in the Annual Inventors' Symposium and gave Farnsworth's Smell-o-scope an "A--", even though the Smell-o-scope went on to save the Earth from a giant mass of waste in orbit from the year 2000. He was given the task later of stopping the great mass of trash when Farnsworth incorrectly set a doomsday clock to explode the mass. After being given tenure and graduate assistants, he left the city of New New York to its doom. Wernstrom had his Inventors' Symposium award stripped from him after Farnsworth and the Planet Express crew managed to save New New York. Wernstrom also appears at the Professor's 150th birthday party.
  • Morbo (Maurice LaMarche) - A news anchor ("news monster" as referred to on the show) for √2 News, Entertainment and Alien Invasion Tonight, and other shows on the [Square Root of 1] Television Network. Actually an advance scout for an invasion, he has no problem expressing his hatred for humanity, or his love for Lipps, Inc.'s "Funky Town". Voiced by Maurice LaMarche. He is, not surpisingly, friends with President Richard Nixon. He never has an appearance without mentioning either how Earth will be destroyed or his hatred for humanity.
  • Linda (Tress MacNeille) - Morbo's human co-anchor. Voiced by Tress MacNeille, she seems to be blissfully unaware of his hatred for humanity, often laughing in classicly unaware news anchor fashion when Morbo says things like "Morbo congratulates our gargantuan cyborg president. May death come quickly to his enemies" (on Richard Nixon's election).
  • Dwight Conrad (Bumper Robinson) - Hermes Conrad's 12-year-old son. Has a friendship with Cubert Farnsworth.
  • LaBarbara Conrad (Dawnn Lewis) - Hermes Conrad's wife and was married to Barbados Slim, another limbo Olympian who won the gold medal in the 3004 Olympics.
  • Scruffy (David Herman) - The Planet Express janitor. A recurring joke is that because he interacts so little with the rest of the employees, nobody remembers ever seeing him before. In addition, it is revealed that he has vast holdings of Planet Express stock. He is lazy and can usually be found in the basement of the building, watching the boiler and reading an edition of Zero-G Juggs. Speaks in a voice reminiscent of Sling Blade.
  • Sal (John DiMaggio) - A recurring generic surly, overweight, blue-collar worker. His first appearance is as a janitor on the moon, servicing the machines in the amusement park. He has appeared many times since, always working some crummy job and always doing a very shoddy job ("What do I look like, a guy who ain't lazy?"). Some fans have speculated that there are numerous Sals, all cloned from the original, which would account for his showing up working many jobs. Either that, or he simply gets fired and finds new employment on a regular basis.
  • Elzar (John DiMaggio) - A famous four-armed Neptunian chef, with his own New New York restaurant, and television show. A parody of Emeril Lagasse.
  • Hedonism Bot (Maurice LaMarche) - A gold-colored robot whose sole purpose in life is self-gratification. In fact, he is the very definition of Hedonism, as he is not simply a "Hedonist Bot" but rather "Hedonism Bot." A parody of gluttonous and flamboyant Roman emperors, he is literally built into his lounging chair. Laugh reminiscent of Mozart's character in Amadeus.
  • Reverend Lionel Preacherbot (Phil LaMarr) - a Preacher at the Temple of Robotology who always manages to be on hand to conduct weddings.
  • Father Changstein-El-Gamal (David Herman) - A priest in the First Amalgamated Church. He counsels Fry in Godfellas, and later presides over Fry's funeral in The Sting.
  • The Hypnotoad - A large toad which is possibly alien, mutated, and/or genetically engineered, it has oscillating multicolored eyes, and emits a strange humming sound. The sound, called "Angry Machine" was used as a temporary sound by the shows animators, and suited the Hypnotoad animation so much that it was used in the actual episode ("The Day the Earth Stood Stupid"). It was rumored to be derived from the sounds of the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars. The Hypnotoad has the power to hypnotize anyone it wants at will. It seems that the Hypnotoad is unique, or that he is perhaps the only example of his species living on Earth. It is revealed that the Hypnotoad is starring in its own television show Everybody Loves Hypnotoad which Fry claims "has been going downhill since season three".
