Medabots, frequently misspelled as Metabots, is an anime and manga series about battling robots. The manga is written by Rin Horuma (Horumarin).
The manga was published in English in North America by Viz Communications. The artwork was flipped to the left-to-right reading style. In Singapore it is published in English by Chuang Yi. The anime once aired on Fox Kids. Released in America around the same time as Pokemon, it was frequently assumed to be a simple parody of mon anime, since merchadise for the series was much less extensive and dubbed tongue-in-cheek. Notably, several important characters noticeably retrained their original Japanese names or pronounciations (such as Erika).
The series stars a boy named Ikki Tenryou (Tenryō Ikki), who wants to become a champion of the World Robattle Tournament. Ikki finds a robot called Metabee which becomes his partner in the Robattles he fights.
