Mayenne is a river in western France. Together with the river Sarthe it forms the river Maine, which is a tributary to the river Loire. Its source is in the département Orne, between Pré-en-Pail and Alençon. It flows through the départements Orne, Mayenne and Maine-et-Loire. It flows through the cities Mayenne, Laval and Château-Gontier . It joins the river Sarthe north of the city Angers.
