Lucius Calpurnius Piso (consul 15 BC)

Lucius Calpurnius Piso (PW 99) (48 BC - 32 AD) was a statesman of ancient Rome.

The son of Lucius Calpurnius Piso Caesoninus, he was born into the plebeian Piso family of the gens Calpurnia . He was a philhellene and patron of Antipater of Thessalonica .

Consul in 15 BC, Piso is mentioned as being in Pamphylia in 13 BC, probably as consular legate of Galatia, then later spent three years in Thrace suppressing an insurrection, for which he earned the ornamenta triumphalia. He may have been proconsul of Asia subsequently. In 12 AD he was appointed praefectus urbi , and continued in that position until his death.
