Lotte is a conglomerate founded in Japan by Shigemitsu Takeo (重光 武雄). The conglomerate has business interests in both South Korea and Japan. By far, Lotte's most visible exports to the Western democracies is their line of confections and chewing gum, the quasi-English slogans and grammatically impetuous ad copy for which has become exemplars of cross-cultural appropriation/contamination.
