Lockheed YP-24

The Lockheed-Detroit YP-24 was a prototype fighter aircraft of 1931, based on the successful Lockheed Altair . A joint effort between Lockheed and its parent, the Detroit Aircraft Corporation , the YP-24 demonstrated impressive speed in testing by the US Army in early October 1931, and the War Department ordered five YP-24's and four attack versions dubbed A-9. But at the end of October, Detroit Aircraft went of business, and these planes were never built.
