In Dispute
The following is a list of people whose alleged vegetarianism is controversial. The following people may or may not be vegetarian.
- Adolf Hitler - Most of the biographies of Hitler, including those by Joachim Fest and Ian Kershaw, state that Hitler became a steadfast vegetarian after the death of his niece Geli Raubal in 1931. However, biographer Robert Payne claims Hitler was not a vegetarian. Payne argues that Joseph Goebbels (Hitler's propaganda minister) invented this myth to give Hitler the aura of an ascetic. Author Bee Wilson also casts doubt on Hitler's vegetarianism. Wilson claims that Hitler's dietician, Marlene von Exner, added animal products to Hitler's diet without Hitler's approval.[3]
