Screentone

(Redirected from Letraset)

Screentone is a generic name for a drafting technique for applying various textures to surfaces from a specially preprinted sheet.

A screentone sheet consists of a flexible transparent backing, the printed texture, and an adhesive layer. The sheet is applied to the paper, adhesive down, and rubbed with a stylus on the backing side. The backing is then peeled off, leaving the ink adhered to the paper where pressure was applied.

Screentones were widely used by illustrators and artists, especially for cartoons. Its use has been declining since the advent of 2D graphics editors and desktop publishing, but are still used e.g. by some Japanese Manga authors.
