Les Cyniques were a Quebec comedy troupe, consisting of Marc Laurendeau , Serge Grenier , Marcel Saint-Germain and André Dubois . Born in the midst of the Quiet Revolution, their "politically barbed, ruthless, and wicked" brand of humor cut a riotous swath through Quebec during the 1960s and 1970s. They openly attacked social convention, targeting all the powerful forces which dominate(d) life in Quebec: the politicians, the clergy, the judges, the police, and the English Canadian elites.
Together with Yvon Deschamps, they revolutionized Quebecois humor and paved the way for a new generation of humorists, most notably, Paul et Paul and Rock et Belles Oreilles.
