Larry Blaisdell was a fictional character on the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He was present in seasons 2 and 3. At first his character fit the "jock" stereotype and gave Xander Harris a hard time. When Xander attempts to talk to Larry about a series of werewolf attacks, Larry misunderstands and comes to the conclusion that Xander is a closeted homosexual. This gave a humorous premise for most of the Larry and Xander conversations in later episodes, and also led to Larry's own coming out of the closet as gay, and the revelation of a more caring and compassionate side. In the alternate universe of "The Wish", he was one of Rupert Giles' "white hats," along with Oz and a girl named Nancy. In season 6, it was confirmed that Larry had died at Sunnydale High School's graduation.
Like Tara Maclay's murder, Larry's untimely demise is another reason that some fans believe that Joss Whedon suggests that homosexuality leads to an untimely and unpleasant death.
