La Défense - Grande Arche (Paris Metro)

La Défense - Grande Arche is a station of the Paris Métro. It is near the Grande Arche building in La Défense. It is located in the western suburbs of Paris, towns of Courbevoie, Puteaux and Nanterre (department of Hauts-de-Seine).

The station is implanted in a commercial center and connects the RER Line A (formerly railroad of Saint-Germain-en-Laye), the line 1 in 1992 and the second line of tramway 1994. A large hall underground serves as bus stations, and the SNCF has a station there.

On the surface, passengers discover the west-part of La Défense with the monumental Grande Arche, two commercial centers and buildings that host the main offices of important French and foreign compagnies, such as France Télécom, the bank Société Générale, etc. From the Grande Arche, the Arc de Triomphe can be seen. On the parking lot of an inn, the sculpture Le Pouce by César can be watched.

Until May 2004, this part of La Défense hosted an information center of the European Union directed by the European Parliament.

Lines serving this station (note that only Line 1 can be taken with a normal metro ticket):

  • RER Line A
  • Line 1 (terminus)
  • Tram Line 2 (terminus)
