Löwenherz

Löwenherz is a German-style board game designed by Klaus Teuber and published in 1997 by Goldsieber in German and by Rio Grande Games in English. The game was re-released in 2003 by Kosmos and published in English by Mayfair Games under the title Domaine. Löwenherz won the Deutscher Spiele Preis in 1997, and Domaine came 5th in 2003.

Gameplay

The board is layed out in a modular fashion, using randomly-placed smaller boards (Löwenherz has six 5x5 boards; Domaine has nine 4x4 boards). Players section off areas of the board with walls, and use knights inside the walls to defend them. The actions which may be taken by players are bid for in an auction. Politics cards give players extra abilities.
