Konstantynów

(Redirected from Konstantynow, Poland)

Konstantynów is a city in Poland, corporated in 1924, but originally founded in the 1820s by a landowner who had planned to build a textile industry there. Located at a Latitude of 52° 15' 0 North and a Longitude of 18° 31' 0 East and an altitude of 102 metres.

Konstantynow is also a part of the Polish town Gabin. From 1974 to 1991 the tallest structure mankind ever built stood here, the Warsaw radio mast. This mast was a 646.38 metre high guyed radio mast in steel-framework construction with triangular cross section with a side length of 4.8 metres and a weight of 420 tons. This mast was used for the 2000 kilowatt longwave transmitter of the Polish broadcasting authority as aerial and was therefore insulated against ground for a voltage of 120 kilovolts. It collapsed at renovation work on August 10th, 1991. Three people were killed at this accident.

This Konstantynow is not identic with the upper mentioned as coordinares show.
