Kitee is a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Eastern Finland and is part of the North Karelia region. The municipality has a population of 10,024 (2003) and covers an area of 1,141.75 kmē of which 276.87 kmē is water. The population density is 8.8 inhabitants per kmē.
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
