A specialist rock music service mixing modern & classic rock (plus some complementary tracks selected from genres appreciated by rock fans) with stimulating speech for young rock enthusiasts. The station boradcasts to the West Midlands in England.

According to the OFCOM website, the licence is as follows:

The rock music aired should comprise a wide mix of tracks including modern & classic rock, album tracks, alternative rock, hip-hop, nu-metal, & other genres (e.g. thrash, goth) to fully reflect the range of styles appreciated by rock fans.

Around half of daytime music will be rock tracks less than 6 months old; up to 2 hours each daytime may consist of themed sequence(s) featuring specific genres(s). Outside daytime at least 40 hours of specialist programmes will be aired, including a weekly show exposing emerging local talent, and genres such as Doom, Hip-Hop, Ska and Skate Punk .

Speech is an important part of the output & must account for at least 20% of daytime output & include peaktime hourly regional news and an extended weekday daytime summary; gig/what’s-on guides, weekly short form features showcasing new talent; daily sports updates & a weekend music/sports/comedy show; a predominately speech based late-night weekday entertainment show including a clearly identified programme discussing moral/social/sexual/other issues of relevance to the audience.

The weekday breakfast show will contain a speech/music ratio of 2/1. The service must be based within the licence area.
