José Francisco Capellán (born on January 13, 1981 in Cotui, Dominican Republic) is a starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who plays in the Milwaukee Brewers organization since 2005. Previously, Capellán played with the Atlanta Braves (2004). He bats and throws right handed.
In a three-game career, Capellán has a compiled a 0-1 record with and a 11.25 ERA in 8.0 innings.
A highly-touted prospect, Capellán was acquired after a rapid rise through the Braves' system in exchange for All-Star reliever Dan Kolb . In 2004, Capellán pitched at Class-A, Double-A and Triple-A and posted a combined 14-5 mark with a 2.80 ERA. He throws a fastball that has been clocked in the upper 90 MPH.
Capellán will open the 2005 season with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds.
